The 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance
Corporation for National and Community Service
The Corporation For National And Community Service (CNCS) joined with a host of not for profit organizations as the lead government administrator in promoting the tenth anniversary of 9/11 and beyond as a day of service and remembrance. Inspired by a group of 9/11 families and their representatives who came together to legislate this designation, CNCS sought to create an identity for their promotion of the Day and create a range of media to widely promote service as the most meaningful way to honor the sacrifice of the victims and heroes of 9/11. A recurring theme was the desire to revisit the unity our country experienced in the aftermath and channel our loss through service – as Americans have done for generations upon generations.
From Yankee Stadium's commemoration ceremonies to movie theatres across the country, the CBS Times Square Jumbotron and social media sites, AJ produced a wide range of materials and media to generate awareness of the Day and promote this call to action beginning with the development and design of the identity.
